An ergonomic evaluation of the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among fish processing workers of Suri

Introduction and Aim: Fish processing industries have been showing tremendous growth in recent years. Various modern technologies equipment are incorporated the fish plants. Some of tasks plants yet involve manual handling. Prolong working wet environment awkward confined posture leads to development musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The current study aimed at evaluating prevalence work-related MSDs among workers.
 
 Materials Methods: A total thirty subjects from plant between 28-40 years were selected randomly a Suri West Bengal. modified Nordic questionnaire was applied for assessment discomfort or pain workers. included postural analysis utilising standardized Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) tool.
 Results: present showed that 60% workers complained different parts body majorly neck, wrist lower back respectively. RULA score adopted during job scaling, trimming, filleting fishes indicated medium risk injury sharpening blade involved low developing MSDs.
 Conclusion: It may be concluded neck major occupational health issues prevailing repetitive manner led increased work- related MSDs.
